Affiliate Disclosure

How WhatsTheStack makes money and how we keep commercial relationships separate from editorial decisions.

Last updated

WhatsTheStack is free to read. We may earn money in two ways: display advertising and affiliate commissions.

Affiliate links

Some links to vendors are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are labelled next to the call-to-action button.

Editorial independence

  • Vendors cannot pay to be included, to change a score or to see reviews before publication.
  • Whether a vendor has an affiliate programme has no bearing on scores or rankings.
  • We include products without affiliate programmes when they are the right choice.

Advertising

Display ads are clearly labelled 'Advertisement' and are served by third parties. Advertisers have no influence over our content.

How affiliate links are marked

Links that may earn us a commission use a rel="sponsored" attribute and are disclosed near the top of any page that contains them. Visiting a vendor through one of these links does not change the price you pay.

What affiliate relationships never affect

  • Scores — the overall score is calculated from sub-scores by code, and affiliate status is not an input.
  • Rankings and inclusion — products without affiliate programmes are reviewed and ranked on the same terms.
  • Our 'Not for you if' sections, cons and warnings.

Why we use affiliate links

Commissions and clearly labelled advertising pay for research time and keep our calculators and guides free. If you prefer, you can always go to a vendor directly by typing its address into your browser.

Questions about this disclosure

If you are unsure whether a particular link is an affiliate link, or you want to report a link that is not labelled correctly, contact us through the contact page. We review disclosures whenever we add a new partner.
