How our team works

Our editorial desk writes and scores reviews, comparisons and buying guides. Our research desk verifies pricing, plans, security documentation and changelogs, and records the date each fact was last checked. Every score is reviewed by a second person before publication.

Neither desk works on advertising or affiliate relationships, and nobody who scores a product can see whether it has an affiliate programme in our scoring tools.

Bylines show which desk owns a page. Each review also shows the evidence behind its scores, a confidence level and a dated changelog, so you can see exactly what was checked and when — and our methodology page publishes the full rubric and weights.

Frequently asked questions

Why are reviews credited to a desk rather than a named person?

Reviews are team work: one person scores, another verifies facts and a third checks the verdict. Each review page shows which desk owns it, the evidence used and when it was last verified.

How can I check a reviewer's work?

Every review shows its full score breakdown, the evidence types behind it, a confidence level and a dated changelog. The rubric used is published on our methodology page.

Do reviewers accept gifts or free accounts?

Reviewers do not accept gifts. Where a vendor provides a trial or test account, the review says so.

How do you keep prices up to date?

The research desk re-checks vendor pricing pages on a schedule and whenever a reader reports a change. Every review shows the date its prices were last checked, and prices are always labelled indicative.

What does 'Researched' mean on a review?

It means the review is based on documentation, public pricing and trust pages, and other public information rather than hands-on testing. Reviews tested hands-on are labelled separately.

Can vendors respond to a review?

Yes. Vendors can send factual corrections and a right-of-reply statement, which we publish with any changes we made as a result.
