Editorial Policy

The standards that govern WhatsTheStack content: independence, accuracy, corrections and conflicts of interest.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made by our editorial team alone. Advertisers and affiliate partners cannot review content before publication, request changes to scores or pay for inclusion.

Accuracy

We source facts from vendor documentation and public pricing pages, and we label prices as indicative because they change. We do not publish invented statistics, fabricated testimonials or awards.

Use of AI

We may use AI tools to assist with research and drafting, and to generate decorative illustrations. All published content is reviewed and edited by our team, and AI is never used to fabricate testing results or reviews.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and update the review date. Report errors to editorial@whatsthestack.com.

Conflicts of interest

Writers disclose any personal or financial relationship with vendors they cover and do not review products where a conflict exists.

Vendor contact

Vendors may send factual corrections and product updates. They cannot influence our opinions or scores.

Corrections and updates

We correct factual errors as soon as they are verified. Material corrections — a changed price, a removed feature, a revised score — are recorded in the product's changelog with the date. We do not silently change scores.

Use of AI in our workflow

We may use AI tools to help summarise documentation or check consistency, but every review, score and recommendation is decided and edited by a person. We do not publish unreviewed AI-generated text, and we never use AI to invent quotes, statistics or test results.

Conflicts of interest

  • Editors do not score products from companies in which they hold a financial interest.
  • Vendors cannot preview, approve or edit reviews before publication.
  • Free trials or accounts provided by vendors are disclosed in the review.
  • Affiliate status is not visible in the scoring tools editors use and plays no part in the formula.

Review cadence

Each pillar has a fixed re-review interval published on our methodology page. If a review passes its due date without being re-checked, it is flagged internally and prioritised.
