Our verdict
Choose HubSpot if adoption and marketing alignment matter most and you can budget for paid hubs later. Choose Zoho if value and automation on a budget are the priority.
HubSpot and Zoho are the two CRMs small businesses shortlist most often. Both have free plans and both can grow into full platforms, but they take different routes: HubSpot prioritises ease of use and inbound marketing, while Zoho prioritises breadth of features per dollar.

Pricing at scale
HubSpot's free tier is excellent, but Professional tiers cost substantially more per seat and contain most automation. Zoho includes workflow rules on lower paid tiers, so a ten-person team needing automation will usually pay noticeably less with Zoho.
Ease of use
HubSpot is consistently easier to learn. Zoho's interface exposes more options and modules, which is powerful but needs more setup and governance.
Ecosystem
HubSpot's marketing, service and CMS hubs share a single database. Zoho offers an even broader suite of apps — accounting, help desk, HR — that integrate with its CRM.
Total cost at 10 seats
HubSpot is free to start and Starter seats are cheap, but most growing teams eventually need Professional for automation, which costs several times Zoho's Professional tier per seat. Over three years at 10 seats, Zoho is usually the cheaper platform for equivalent automation, while HubSpot wins if the free plan or Starter covers your needs.
Ecosystem and suite
HubSpot's marketplace is one of the largest in CRM and its marketing, service and CMS hubs share one database. Zoho counters with dozens of its own apps — Books, Desk, Campaigns, Projects — and the Zoho One bundle, which can replace much of a small company's software for a single per-employee price.

Migration difficulty: Moderate
Contacts, companies and deals move cleanly by CSV or migration tools; automations, custom properties and email templates need rebuilding.
- Export contacts, companies, deals and notes from the current CRM.
- Map custom fields and pipeline stages to the new CRM before importing.
- Import a test batch, check associations, then import the rest.
- Rebuild automations and email templates; reconnect email and calendar.
- Run both systems read-only in parallel for a week, then switch off the old one.
